Underactive Thyroid

I thought it would be a good idea to start with this subject since there are many men and women out there who are trying to lose weight and are unsuccessful because they are unaware that they might have a problem with their thyroid.  So what is the basic function of a thyroid gland?  Your thyroid gland sends out two different kinds of hormones commonly referred to as T3 and T4.  A healthy thyroid is supposed to produce 80% of T4 to 20% of T3.  These hormones help your metabolism function properly which in turn helps your organs to function properly.  Maintaing a healthy weight or achieving weight loss has everything to do with whether or not your metabolism is function properly.
So if you are one of those thousands of people out there who may have a problem with their thyroid, but don't realize it here are some symptoms that you should be aware of:
1.  Fatigue
2.  Weakness
3.  Inability to lose weight even on a low calorie diet
4.  Irritablity
5.  Decreased libido
6.  Abnormal menstrual cycle
7.  Difficulty conceiving

...just to name a few.
I found a web site that offers some very impressive natural products for people with thyroid problems.
http://thyroidtreatmentreviews.net/ I would say it would be worth checking out.  Make sure you talk to your doctor about the possibility of thyroid issues before trying anything though.

  2. Same here. I checked about five years ago and was fine. I guess something could have happened since then.... hm.. Thanks for the info. I wouldn't be surprised if i do end up with it because my Mom and sister have it. I have never understood it really before your explanation-so thanks!

  3. I think the reason why it can be so confusing is because you can have hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. For example Hypothyroidism is what aggravates weight loss. Hyperthyroidism aggravates weight gain. In other words with the second type it is very difficult to keep on the weight. Some might say they like that option better, but with either problem you're still feeling yucky in the end. Check out the links to the right if you would like to learn more about it.

  4. I unfortunately have hypothyroidism. It has
been the most difficult challenge I have ever had to face!!! Since getting on the correct meds, working out everyday, and counting calories I have been able to lose 25 of the 60lbs I need to lose! Thanks for starting this blog, I'm excited to know there is someone out there struggling just like me!!!

  6. I've been dealing with thyroid issues for about 12 years now. The best thing I think you can do is listen to your body and find an endocrinologist who will listen to you. Many doctors don't understand thyroid function well enough to help and lots still follow old TSH guidlines that don't allow some people to feel well even though their levels are 'normal'.
